Unleash Your Creativity at Family Clay Day and Christmas at the Coop
Dive into a world of creativity and festive fun at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts' (SAMFA) upcoming Family Clay Day! This hands-on, free event, a community favorite, is scheduled for December 16, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It's the perfect opportunity for families to bond through the joy of art, hosted in the museum's Education Studio and in collaboration with the Concho Clay Studio.
But the artistic exploration doesn't end there! The event coincides with the delightful Christmas at the Coop, located at the Coop Gallery, 427 S. Oakes Street. The holiday season comes alive as participants weave through two venues, crafting memories along with their creations.
At Christmas at the Coop, unleash your inner designer by crafting an ornament inspired by the whimsical works of Takashi Murakami, or fashion a Grinch headband that's bound to make your holiday cheer infectious.
Back at the Education Studio, SAMFA invites you to construct a one-of-a-kind wooden toy and shape a ceramic Christmas tree ornament. Starting with pre-bisqued star shapes, attendees will add strings and beads, then personalize their creation with vibrant watercolors and shimmering sequins. Chandra Satterwhite, a master of the craft, will guide budding artists through this engaging clay activity.
SAMFA welcomes everyone, from the young in age to the young at heart, to participate in this festive, free event. Located at 1 Love Street, the museum provides all the materials at no cost. To ensure your spot in this popular event, register online at Eventbrite.com. Don't miss this chance to make art and memories that will sparkle on your Christmas tree for years to come!
