SAN ANGELO, TX — It’s Labor Day weekend and Brady is hosting the 49th Annual World Championship Goat Cookoff this weekend. The festivities begin on Friday, September 1, at 6 p.m. and last through Saturday night, September 2. In addition to the meat judging contests, attendees can expect good food, great music, and a variety of entertainment that the entire family can enjoy.
According to VisitBrady.com, “For 49 years, the True Heart of Texas has hosted the World Championship BBQ Goat Cookoff and has been bringing you BBQ goat, good times, and quality musicians such as Shane Smith & the Saints, Koe Wetzel, Aaron Watson, and more!”
“What began in 1974 as a small fundraiser for the local Jaycees with 16 cooking teams, Brady’s World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off is the largest and longest-running of its kind in Texas. With more than 200 team entries each year that draw cookers and visitors from across Texas and beyond each Labor Day Weekend, the event includes not only a cook-off but an arts and crafts fair, children’s games, washer and horseshoe pitching tournaments, and live Texas music. Experience an unforgettable event on September 2nd, in Brady, at the World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off!”
This year, Mike Ryan and Hayden McBride headline the main event stage to bring some of the best live Texas music around. General Admission is $10 per person, VIP tickets are $50 per person, and cooler tags are $5 a piece. Tickets can be purchased online HERE.
Judges for this year’s cookoff include not only people from across the state of Texas but also around the United States as well. Lonestar Cheeseburger and the Angry Cactus Owner, Tim Condon, from San Angelo, will be one of the judges this year.
