Rapper Leaves Houston Off Tour After Astroworld Tragedy

HOUSTON, TX – Travis Scott will not be returning to Houston on his upcoming tour.

According to the Utopia Circus Maximus tour list released by Travis Scott on Aug. 31, 2023, Scott's hometown of Houston will be left off of the tour. This is Scott's first tour since the tragedy at Astroworld in 2021, where 10 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured.

The omission of Houston from the tour was not originally an idea by Scott. Rolling Stone reported earlier this month that Scott was considering Houston, but local law enforcement pleaded for officials to not allow it to happen. As a compromise, Scott and his management decided to pull the concert from the town altogether.

A similar incident happened in Egypt, as Scott was planning on having an album debut concert at the Pyramids of Giza. Local officials in Cairo called off the concert, citing Travis Scott's alleged worship of the devil.

Although he won't be in Houston, Texas fans will still be able to see Scott's show in Dallas on Oct. 17 and in Austin on Nov. 21.
