HOLLYWOOD— The new Star Wars series about Anakin Skywalker’s padawan is set to premiere tonight on Disney+.
The first two episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka air tonight and it appears to be a hit with fans. Right now, the series is boasting an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. The series will focus on Ahsoka has she investigates a threat to the galaxy.
That threat may very well be Grand Admiral Thrawn, who had his name dropped in the second season of “The Mandalorian”. The other bad guys, or seemingly bad guys, are Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno who portray Baylan Skool and Shin Hati. Also, from that Mandalorian episode and reprises the role in Ahsoka was Morgan Elsbeth, portrays by Diana Lee Inosanto, who Ahsoka beat and asked the question, “Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn?”.
Star Wars: Ahsoka has been created by Dave Filoni, who also serves as executive producer with Jon Favreau. This duo is the one that developed the Mandalorian.
Fans seem to think this series will be about Ahsoka and company looking for Ezra Bridger, who was last seen in the animated series Star Wars Rebels taking on Thrawn when both were shot out through hyperspace to an unknown place.
The cast includes:
- Rosario Dawson- Ahsoka Tano
- Natasha Lui Bordizzo- Sabine Wren
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead- Hera Syndulla
- Eman Esfandi- Ezra Bridger
- Lars Mikkelsen- Grand Admiral Thrawn
- Ray Stevenson- Baylan Skoll
- Ivanna Sakhno- Shin Hati
- Diana Lee Inosanto- Morgan Elsbeth
- David Tennant- Huyang
There are also rumors that Hayden Christiansen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, who eventually turned to the dark side to become Darth Vader. Christiansen also came back to play Darth Vader in the Obi Wan Kenobi series that dropped last year. In the animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka becomes Anakin's Padawan learner until she left the Jedi after being falsely accused of a crime she did not commit.
The first two episodes of Ahsoka drop tonight at 8:00 p.m. and will have new episodes every Tuesday.
