HOLLYWOOD— The majorly popular anti-superhero comic turned Amazon series “The Boys” has dropped a trailer for its official spinoff.
Titled “Gen V”, show will follow Marie Moreau, played by Jaz Sinclair, as she and her classmates adapted to life at Godalkin University.
“From the world of The Boys comes Gen V, which explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given.”
The Boys, based on the comic series titled “The Boys”, has exploded in popularity due to the different take it has on superheroes. Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe, the superheroes in “The Boys” are awful people.
Whether they’re narcissistic, sociopathic, psychopaths or sexually deviant morons, it does make for entertaining television. The show starts with Hughie, played by Jack Quaid, son of Dennis Quaid, getting pulled into the world of Vaught, a huge, shady company that houses “The Seven”, a team of disgusting superheroes.
“The Seven” at first consists of, The Deep, an Aquaman like hero who controls sea life and sometimes has his way with it. Translucent, who can turn invisible and stands around inside the bathrooms at Vaught Tower. A-Train, the fastest man alive who jump starts the by running through Hughie’s girlfriend. Black Noir, a silent, mentally unstable ninja who does assassinations. Annie January or Starlight, a naïve hero who tries to change her horrible co-workers. Queen Maeve, a Wonder Woman type lesbian character who ends up on the good side. Last but not least, Homelander, an indestructible Superman type who is the worst of the worst.
Expect Gen V to be just as wild as The Boys.
The main Gen V cast includes:
- Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Marie Moreau
- Chance Perdomo (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Andre Anderson
- Lizza Broadway (Shameless, Southland) as Emma Meyer
- Maddie Philliips (iZombie, Supernatural) as Cate Dunlap
- Derek Luh / London Thor (Runaways, Shining Vale) as Jordan
Gen V is set to hit Amazon Prime on September 29, 2023.
