The King Celebrates His 71st Birthday

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The 'King of Country' George Strait celebrated his 71st birthday on Thursday.

Strait was born on May 18, 1952 in Poteet. For the first 30 years of his life, Strait worked on his family's ranch in Pearsall. He began playing music professionally in the 80s. During his career he would go onto to set the record for most number 1 hits with 60.

His biggest hits are 'All My Exes Live in Texas,' 'Carrying Your Love With Me," and 'Check Yes or No.' Fun fact that the hit song 'Amarillo By Morning' did not ever hit number one on the charts despite being a 3x Platinum selling record.

At 71, Strait is still touring the country and will be playing two shows in Texas at the Dickies Arena in Ft. Worth this November.

Wish King George a Happy Birthday in the comments below.
