San Saba High School Artist Wins Congressional Art Award

 

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for the 11th Congressional District of Texas.

 First Place was awarded to San Saba High School senior Andrea Rodriguez for her piece titled “El Vaquero,” which depicts a man and horse during golden hour. Andrea’s winning piece will hang in the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. for a full year where it can be viewed by visitors and Members of Congress.

 Second Place was awarded to Emily Parsons, a Junior at Killeen High School, for her piece titled “Star Gazer,” and Third Place was awarded to San Saba Sophomore Grace Shahan for her piece titled “Cows.”

 Congressman August Pfluger: “Congratulations to the winners of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition, especially our first-place winner Andrea Rodriguez! It is wonderful to see these awesome students leveraging their natural talents and creating art that highlights the wonders of our country. I hope this competition inspires all the entrants to continue pursuing their artistic talents and I look forward to seeing Andrea’s painting hang in the U.S. Capitol.”
