HOLLYWOOD— A feature film about America’s favorite spicy snack is set to release this summer!
“Flamin’ Hot”, the true story about Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, is about a Frito-Lay former janitor, a Mexican immigrant named Richard Montanez, who, allegedly, created the spicy puff snack. Montanez was working at the Frito-Lay facilty at Rancho Cucamonga and became an author and businessman, outsmarting and outworking corporate greed.
Of course, Frito-Lay claims Montanez did not create the flamin’ hot Cheeto and that they were actually thought up by a team of food professionals and that Lynne Greenfield came up with the
“Flamin’ Hot” name. Frito-Lay says that Flamin’ Hot Cheetos were created back in 1989.
However, Frito-Lay does value Montanez and his contributions to the company. Montanez started off as a plant worker/janitor and now has published two books based on his life, is a public speaker, and now has a movie about his life coming out this June.
What’s not to like about Montanez’s story? It shows that the American dream works.
Flamin’ Hot is directed by Texas-born Eva Longoria and is her feature film directorial debut and the cast includes:
- Jesse Garcia- Richard Montanez
- Annie Gonzalez- Judy Montanez
- Dennis Haysbert- Clarence C. Baker
- Tony Shalhoub- Roger Enrico
- Emilio Rivera- Vacho Montanez
Matt Walsh, Pepe Serna, Bobby Soto, Jimmy Gonzalez, and Brice Gonzalez also have roles in the film.
Flamin’ Hot will release on the streaming services Hulu and Disney+ on June 9, 2023.
