DC Studios Drops First Blue Beetle Trailer

 

HOLLYWOOD— DC Studios has dropped the first trailer for “Blue Beetle” set to hit theaters this summer.

Batman is a fascist in the first trailer for “Blue Beetle” where Jaime Reyes, played by Xolo Mariduena, gets a suit from Kord Industries. The official synopsis reads:

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.

According to DC, Blue Beetle has been three different people over the course of the comics. Dan Garrett, the original Blue Beetle was an archaeologist, who discovered the Scarab to end up fighting crime.

Then, Ted Kord, who took over, with no powers but gadgets until the current and protagonist of the movie, Jaime Reyes, took over. Blue Beetle has been part of the Justice League and the Teen Titans in the comics and animated movies. This is the first live-action Blue Beetle.

Blue Beetle is set to hit theaters August 18, 2023.
