HOLLYWOOD- The first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s new film, Oppenheimer, which is based on a Pulitzer-Prize winning book, has dropped.
The Oppenheimer synopsis reads:
“Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an IMAX-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”
J. Robert Oppenheimer was one of the main individuals involved in the Manhattan Project and was the director at the Los Alamos lab where the first nuclear bombs were assembled.
Oppenheimer welcomes Nolan back as director. He is well known for The Dark Knight Saga, as well as Inception, Intersteller, Dunkirk, and Tenet. Nolan's screenplay is influenced by American Prometheus: A Triumph and Tragedy on J. Robert Oppenheimer, which was written by Martin J. Sherwin and Kai Bird which biography chronicles Oppenheimer's life.
In true Nolan fashion, it's been reported that real explosives, not nuclear obviously, were used to re-create the explosion on the Trinity test.

- Emily Blunt (Jungle Cruise, A Quiet Place Part 2)- Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer
- Matt Damon (The Martian, Jason Bourne franchise)- General Leslie Groves Jr.
- Robert Downey Jr. (Avengers: Endgame, Sherlock Holmes)- Lewis Strauss
- Florence Pugh (Midsommer, Black Widow)- Jean Tatlock
- Benny Safdie (Good Time, Pieces of a Woman)- Edward Teller
- Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down)- Ernest Lawrence
The film also features Rami Malak, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Angarano, Dane Dahaan, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, Matthew Modine, Jack Quaid, Josh Peck, among other huge stars.
Oppenheimer is currently slated to release on July 21, 2023.
