The Batman Finally Releases into Theaters

SAN ANGELO, TX- After several delays due to COVID, The Batman’s release is finally here with special Thursday showings tonight.

Originally set to release in June 2021, The Batman follows Bruce Wayne into his second year fighting crime as Batman. Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield) took over the reigns as director and has given fans a true noir thriller.

At the inaugural DC Fandome event, a teaser trailer was released for the Batman, and at the time, only about a quarter of the movie had been shot due to production delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie had a release date of October 1, 2021, but was delayed again until March 4, 2022.

At the 2021 DC Fandome event, Matt Reeves, along with Pattinson and Kravitz, spoke with fans about The Batman and released the main trailer.

A few months after the main trailer released, “The Bat and the Cat” trailer was dropped.

Since the pandemic, studios have been trying out streaming and exclusive releases after sitting on so many movies, and so much money, for so long. HBOMax had several new movies release like Godzilla vs. Kong, The Suicide Squad, and Dune.

Now that things have returned to relative normalcy, and with the huge success of Spiderman: No Way Home, DC and Warner Brothers hope to, and according to reviews, seem to have the next big success.

Robert Pattinson has been cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Pattinson made waves as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise but decided to go the indie route and work on his craft. It worked out for him as he has since gotten to work with some of the better directors in the past 10 years.

Batman would not be complete without an insane list of characters to play alongside him. Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) signed on to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffery Wright (No Time to Die, HBO’s Westworld) was tapped to play James Gordon, Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars) is playing Bruce Wayne’s butler and only family Alfred Pennyworth, and to play the villains, Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Swiss Army Man) and Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Horrible Bosses) are set to portray The Riddler and Oz/The Penguin respectively.

Rounding out the cast is John Turturro (The Big Lebowski, Transformers) as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard (Jarhead, The Magnificent Seven) as Gil Coulson, Alex Ferns (Wrath of Man) as Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (HBO’s Chernobyl) as Chief Mackenzie, and Barry Keoghan (The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Eternals) as possibly a huge character but right now is credited as ‘Unseen Arkham Prisoner”.

“The Batman” currently sits at 85% with critics and 96% with fans on Rotten Tomatoes and you can buy tickets here.
