WATCH: Patriots Celebrate Independence Day 2020 in Christoval

CHRISTOVAL, TX – Hundreds of patriots converged on the small town of Christoval in southern Tom Green County on July 4th, 2020 for the annual Independence Day celebration.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the Christoval Volunteer Fire Department and features a 5k and one mile fun run, 30 mile bike ride and two mile kayak ride.

Volunteers with the VFD also cook up a dandy bar-b-que meal with brisket, sausage, beans potato salad and dessert.

Watch video from the start of the Firecracker Fun Run:

Participants in Christoval adhered to Gov. Abbott's executive orders as much as any patriot can while celebrating Independence Day.

The 5K and one mile runs wound through downtown Christoval and Pugh Park while the bike ride was an out and back course on Toenail Trail.

The Kayak adventure started at the causeway and went upstream one mile and back.

There was music planned for later in the evening and individuals were making preparations to celebrate using fireworks legally.

... that SA Live readers are going to notice the same thing I did. The person shooting the video shot only the runners from .... the waist down to the ground. No shot of people wearing mask, no social distancing that I could see. Now, that's going to be a topic for at least 3 days... if not a entire week! It really makes me wonder and go ... "Hmmm, what's wrong with this picture?" My point is... if people are being encouraged to wear mask in the presence of a large crowd and social distancing... to help stop the spread of the virus... then in all fairness... this event should have been postponed or canceled. Personally, it makes no difference to me because I would not have participated in the event anyway, but... come on now ... you know there are alot of readers that are going to make their opinions on this and again... more backlash ... and in all fairness it would be justified! My thoughts are ... if your going to cancel events that are going to have a large attendance... then cancel them all ... and that's playing "Fair"! That's why this entire situation with the virus and the proposed mandates are so in question and controversial!

No patriots there and none at the GSRHA doo-dah parade. Not one single mask on adult or child on Thursday. Not one inch of social distancing on Saturday in Christoval. Good luck with that; there's no room for you in the hospitals. Nope, not a single patriot, just a bunch of law breakers, enablers, and deniers. No respect for the Mayor either who is trying to guide you in saving all our lives.
