SAN ANGELO, TX — Sunday, the number one ABBA tribute concert comes to San Angelo at the Brooks and Bates Theatre inside the San Angelo Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m.
The show, called ABBA Mania!, formed in 1999 and it tours internationally. Right now, the group is on a 30-city tour in the U.S. and San Angelo is among those stops.
The quest of the show is to bring alive the music of the Swedish music superstars. At the show, you will see and hear the group perform blockbuster ABBA songs like “Take a Chance on Me,” “Mamma Mia,” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You.”
ABBA Mania is popular. In Sydney, Australia, the group grossed over $1 million (in Aussie dollars). From there, the show traveled to France, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, South Africa, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and throughout the United Kingdom.
The current 30-show tour in the U.S. is compressed over just six weeks. In addition to San Angelo, the tour takes them to the prestigious Smith Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid, collectively known as ABBA, dominated the music charts for nearly 10 years and enjoyed nine UK number 1 hits. At their height they became Sweden’s highest export earners, amazingly, outselling Volvo cars.
Sadly, in the early 1980s, the band members decided to go their separate ways, yet their music lives on. The record ABBA Gold was continuously in the album Charts throughout the 1990s and is one of the biggest selling albums ever.
ABBA’s timeless songs were written to be enjoyed live and ABBA Mania! gives you exactly that. Sunday’s show promises you hours of uplifting, dance inducing, and sometimes heart-breaking songs, performed fully live with fantastic staging, lighting and effects.
The show recreates ABBA’s sound not only perfectly, but respectfully too. ABBA Mania is not only for life long, die-hard ABBA fans but also for the new generation of fans, who never had the opportunity to see ABBA live.
The hits to be performed include ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Waterloo’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘The Winner Takes it All’, ‘Super Trouper’, ‘Fernando’, ‘Take A Chance On Me’ and many more. These are the songs that will continue to fill dance floors worldwide today.
The show is Sunday, Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Brooks and Bates Theatre at the San Angelo Performing Arts Center. Because this is a Sunday show, tickets are value-priced at $35 ea. Purchasing your tickets in advance online is suggested to make sure you have a seat. Get tickets to ABBA Mania! in San Angelo here.
