A Shopping Expo Like No Other Is Coming to San Angelo During Christmas Shopping Season

SAN ANGELO, TX – A very unique shopping experience is coming to San Angelo on the weekend of November 16 & 17 called The Gypsy Vanner Shopping Expo. Oorganizers said that over 70 local and out-of-town vendors are already committed to exhibit and sell their products there.

Downtown San Angelo salon and boutique store Burlap & Paisley is hosting the expo and they want to ensure that everyone has a great time at their event. In addition to the vendors, the event will feature concession stands, wine, beer, and live music. The expo's theme, "Wonderland Out West", will feature “the most unique boutiques, crafters and antique junkers this side of the Concho River.”

"We have been working on this expo for about a year now and we wanted to bring something to San Angelo that was new and different," said organizer Tori Kay, “It really takes a community working together to put something like this expo together.”

By highlighting local shops with the diversity of also having out-of -own vendors, the expo is giving San Angelo the opportunity to support local businesses and learn about the shops and vendors that are right here in San Angelo or in nearby towns and cities. The vendor spots are sold out, meaning that every corner of the coliseum will feature a unique booth or boutique.

More than just a shopping experience, the expo is an opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly environment that will also benefit a very good cause. A percentage of the proceeds of all ticket sales will be donated to the Concho Valley Home for Girls, a cause that is near and dear to the heart of the organizers. As a bonus, they will also be featuring a real Gypsy wagon, housed originally in a museum in Holland, that will be made available to guests for pictures.

The expo promises something for everyone in the family; from vintage goods to boutique clothes to home décor to specialty foods. Finding the perfect Christmas gift will be a breeze this year. A fashion show will also be going on Saturday at 1 p.m., allowing shops and boutiques to showcase their latest designs.  Many of the vendors and boutiques will be bringing new designs and items specifically for the expo.

Music is a big part of the expo weekend and in addition to featuring local talent, Sunny Sweeny and Dave Fenley will be headlining the weekend. Texas Cheer Obsession will be present at the expo with special performances. The expo will hold raffles throughout the entire weekend. Guests can win koozies, prizes donated by venders, and an autographed guitar from Tarpley’s that will be signed by both musical headliners. (Winner will not need to be present to enter the guitar drawing.)

Dave Fenley, born in East Texas and raised in Canada, will be showcasing his musical talent on Saturday. He has collaborated with big names in country music like Dwight Yoakam, Miranda Lambert, and Dierks Bentley.  As a previous contestant on The Voice, he knows how to put on a show. Expo guests are invited to see his performance starting at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Sunny Sweeny will begin playing at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Houston native is known for her ability to be "the quip that makes you laugh and the truth that makes you cry, the devil that’s egging you on and the angel whispering that you aren’t alone."

Tickets are only $5 per day and can be pre-purchased at Burlap & Paisley (322 N Chadbourne St) or at the door. The event will be held at the Foster Communications Coliseum from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
