Facebook, Instagram Experience Outages, Giving Users Headaches

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Popular social media sites Facebook and Instagram have experienced widespread outages just before the Fourth of July.

Users have noticed the inability to load pictures, videos and files on the popular sites and have made their voices heard.

"We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps," tweeted Facebook in a response to the outage. "We're sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible."

DownDetector.com reports that Instagram experienced more than 14,000 problems at 10:00 a.m. and the problems were worldwide. In the US, problems appeared to be dominant on the east and west coasts with intermittent outages across the rest of the country.

Facebook's reported outages peaked at 7,656 outages reported at 10:00 a.m. and their outages followed much of the similar pattern.

On Twitter, the hashtags "#FacebookDown" and "#InstagramDown" became trending topics as users looked to air their frustrations.
