SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Performing Arts Center (SAPAC) will announce their upcoming 2019/2020 Season to the public Tuesday, May 21 at 10 a.m.
The shows coming will include Broadway, Family Entertainment, Concerts, Theater, Dance, and an all new lo-cal collaboration. The Broadway Series alone includes 14 Tony Award wins, 8 Drama Desk wins, 6 Oscar wins, and 1 Grammy win.
SAPAC operates the $22 million theater complex at City Hall and across a mall at the SAPAC center in the former Coca-Cola bottling building at 82 Gillis St. in downtown San Angelo. Performance venues operated by SAPAC include the 1200-seat Murphey Performance Hall attached to San Angelo City Hall, the Brooks and Bates Theater, and the Black Box Theater. Angelo Ballet and Be Theatre are resident performing arts organizations at the center.
Each year, SAPAC brings Broadway plays, top-ranked music performers, and local performing arts groups to the stage. The next shows remaining this season include the play "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" on May 23 and Jason Petty and Katie Deal's "Country Royalty Tribute to Hank Williams, Sr. and Patsy Cline" on June 16.
Local groups like Be Theatre will be performing Shakespeare on the Concho a Midsummer Night's Dream June 7-15. The Lake View High School Mariachi Band will perform in the Murphey May 23.
The 2019-2020 Season begins shortly after this season ends. The final show this season is "Celebration of Music" on Aug. 11.
Next year's Season Tickets will go on sale Monday evening for Encore Members and returning subscribers and will go on-sale to the general public June 7, 2019 at 10 a.m.
