SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Angry Cactus put on a "food fight" competition where two chefs competed for the Golden Spatula on Tuesday.
Chef Tim Condon and chef Earl Mulley were the two cooking in the competition, and Mulley ended up taking home the Spatula.
The categories of the event were scallops, duck, lamb, and raspberries.
Chef Mulley made Seared Scalllop over Bacon Manchago Grits, Duck Two Ways, Rack of Lamb Cabernet Demi Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes, and Raspberry Lemon Tart with Meringue. Mulley was the owner and executive chef at the River Terrace Restaurant in San Angelo from 2006 until 2012. There, his culinary abilities became legendary. But before that, he worked as the game day chef for the owner’s suite for the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium in Dallas.
Chef Condon made Scallops Sweetcorn and Fried Prosciutto, Duck and Dumplings, Moroccan Lamb with Cous-Cous, and a Raspberry Trifle. Chef Tim Condon is the owner of Lone Star Cheeseburger, Angry Cactus, and the President of the Restaurant Association.
"It is really cool how the of the leadership of the communities food business's can come together and do something like this," said Angry Cactus's owner TIm Condon. "From food trucks to restaurants we're glad that we can do this and continue to do this for years to come."
Condon went on to say that they will try to continue this competition in the future with aspirations to bring in Chefs from all across the state to compete against San Agnelo chefs.
