SAN ANGELO, TX —Today is Christmas for Star Wars fans in San Angelo. The latest installment of the movie franchise, “The Last Jedi,” opens in San Angelo theaters.

According to the movie distributor Walt Disney Studios, “Luke Skywalker's peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.”
The Last Jedi is the eighth Star Wars movie. The first was “A New Hope,” in 1977, followed by “The Empire Strikes Back,” 1980, “Return of the Jedi,” 1983, then “The Phantom Menace,” 1999, “Attack of the Clones,” 2002, “Revenge of the Sith,” 2005, and “The Force Awakens,” 2015.
“The Last Jedi” is showing beginning at 7 p.m. at Icon Cinema, 2020 N. Bryant and at Cinemark Tinseltown USA, 4425 Sherwood Way. According to their websites, tickets are still available for some of the showtimes.
