Santa Claus is Coming to Town This Evening

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Christmas holidays have often been referred to as "the most wonderful time of the year." It's a time of sharing, reuniting with family and friends, good food, extravagant decorations, and remembering the reason for the season. People tend to be more giving and thoughtful around this time, and, as for children, most are more likely to be on their best behavior. After all, Santa Claus is coming to town and no one wants to be on his "naughty" list.

Every year, right around this time, Santa makes a special stop in San Angelo, hoping every girl and boy will come out and have their picture taken with him and tell him what they want for Christmas.

Sabrina Tatsch, Marketing Manager for the Sunset Mall, located at 4001 Sunset Drive, said, "This year, Santa Claus will be arriving on Friday, November 18 at 6 p.m. All are invited to join us in the Bealls court for a sneak peek of the San Angelo Broadway Academy’s 'Elf' the musical, and Santa will make his appearance during the show. Afterwards, he will be available for photos. Additionally, two family four-packs of tickets to Elf will be given away during the event."

Tatsch added that Santa has been coming to the mall since it opened in 1979.

"Last year, we had around 200 people anxiously awaiting his arrival and a lot of kids got super excited," Tatsch recalled.

The manager remembered when, during a year the event was held outside, when she heard a little girl say "I'm just so excited I could throw up!"

Since San Angelo has so many good children, for the next 5 weeks, Santa’s new home will be located in center court across from MasterCuts. His regular hours will begin Saturday, November 19, and run Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. He will remain at the mall through Christmas Eve, Saturday December 24 at 6 p.m. Santa will have one day off, on Thanksgiving, so he can spend some time with Mrs. Claus, his elves and the reindeer.

As an added bonus, Tatsch said, "Sunset Mall invites all to bring your furry friends for a photo with Santa. Pet photo nights with Santa are Tuesdays, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m, from November 22 to December 13. Pets must be on a leash. For those who bring pet food, pet supplies, or kitty litter and donate to Concho Valley PAWS, they will receive $2.00 off any photo package during pet nights. (See sunsetmall.com for coupon and photo prices.)"
