SAN ANGELO, TX- A lot of people "ooh and ahhh" over baby pictures, but if you found yourself saying 'awww' to the photo above, there is a special event you'll love, which started today and runs through Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Shaydee Watson is the Gallery Verde's manager, located at 417 South Oakes, in front of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.
She was proud to announce 'Best Friends II,' an exhibit of photography of man's best friend, the dog, which will be on loan from the Grace Museum in Abilene, Texas and Alice and Bill Wright.
"It's all photography of dogs; some with their owners," said Watson. "There will be around 17 pieces and photos will be allowed as long as a flash is not used. Viewing days and times are as follows: Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Mondays and Thanksgiving day, it will be closed."
She added, "On the day of the Downtown Stroll, the 17th of November, we open that evening as well from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m."
Gallery Verde is owned by the Art Museum, and last year, staff began promoting it for gallery exhibits, which actually is a rental place for the public to do exhibits.
"People can lease it for the weekend, or two, which usually has the most traffic," Watson explained. "We also do artist workshops in the gallery, and those interested can check out SAMFA's website for the schedule. The workshops vary in mediums, and classes cater to everyone from beginners to advanced artists."
Watson said they host another gallery called the Coop Gallery, which is a few buildings down, and that is available for the public to lease for exhibits as well. There will be an opening there on the 17th, and will feature four artists.
