Summer is half way over for many, so if you're looking for an inexpensive weekend getaway, Fredricksburg, Texas is the place to be this weekend. Saturday, July 16, will be the First Annual Sommerzeit Fesitival at the Fredricksburg Fairgrounds, 530 Fair Drive.
Amy Bledsoe, spokesperson for The Signal Event Group said, "Throughout the year, our organization puts on many events, which promote Texas and the Texas Hill Country, and this one is to just to celebrate all things summertime."
On the day of the event, the main gates open at 11:00 a.m., but the activities will take place from 4 p.m. until midnight and have something for everyone.
"We'll have about 15 vendor booths selling everything from food to arts and crafts and the like," Bledsoe said. "For anyone interested in being a vendor, contact Signal by Friday."
She added, "There will be a lot of things going on, including five different local artists performing at the Expo Center, Magic Valley Rides full carnival, and the Gillespie County Pari-Mutuel horse races."
The festival will also feature a Mexican Mercado, Cowboy Grill, and Night in Old Fredricksburg Biergarten.
Live music acts and performance times are as follows: Sun City (4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.), Justin McFarland (5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.), Jake Martin (6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.), Brandon Rhyder (7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.), and The Dirty River Boys will close out the night from 9:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

All day access tickets for entrance to both the horse races and Sommerzeit are $15. General admission to the Sommerzeit Festival is only $10. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at sommerzeitfbg.com. For vendor information, go to signaleventgroup.com.
