Alice Cooper Returns to Abilene in August

There's a woman in Abilene who has perhaps one of the best jobs ever. For work, she plays classic Rock and Roll, chats with musicians, gives away concert tickets, and is privy to who is coming to town to play and when. She is the true definition of a hard core Rocker chick, and can back it up with her vast knowledge of the industry with photos to prove she's been there and done that. But don't place her in one demographic just yet; One day, people might see her at a biker rally or concert, and the next she may be tucked away in her art studio painting pastel colored abstracts.

A few months ago, Abilene D.J. Terri Knight, a.k.a. "The Queen" for Radio station 102.7 'The Bear,' went above and beyond to promote the band Foreigner. They played at the Taylor County Expo Center in April. Several times a day, she would post updates on her Facebook page and announce the event on the radio.

"I love the band; want to see more shows like this come to West Texas, and am just doing what I can to let everyone know," said Knight.

News didn't quite reach San Angelo, but the event was a huge success, and the band showed their gratitude by posing for photos and publicly acknowledging all of her hard work.

The evening of the Foreigner show, Russ Dodge, Promoter for Pacific Coast Concerts, had a surprise announcement for event goers as well.

"Our next performer will be the one and only Mr. Alice Cooper coming to Abilene Texas on Saturday August 20th," said Dodge.

Now Terri is promoting the show like crazy and wanted to make sure the word got out to San Angeloans as well.

Dodge has worked with the likes of The Steve Miller Band, Ringo Starr, Heart, Chicago, America, Styx, REO, Boston, and many more. He is planning on bringing in more acts to the area in the near future.

"Alice is a Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame member making his first appearance in Abilene in decades, and brings his own brand of rock-psycho-drama to the stage," said Dodge.

Cooper is known around the world for great hits like "I'm Eighteen," "Billion Dollar Babies," "School's Out," "No More Mister Nice Guy," "Welcome to My Nightmare," and dozens more.

In a recent telephone interview, Cooper said, "It's all the hits and theatrics you can stand, and I always surround myself with the best players (musicians). It's a rock concert as well as a theatrical experience. The show is over an hour and a half now, so it's a lot of fun."

Cooper reminisced about the old days of hanging out with David Bowie, Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop, and Jimi Hendrix and pays tribute to them in the production.

"In some ways, we're having as much fun as the people in the audience are without sacrificing the hard rock," Cooper noted. "Last year, we toured with Motley Crue for 150 shows. It doesn't matter if we are in Abilene or Paris, we put on the same quality of show every night."

He added that his "wife plays the rag doll in the box, the nurse, and Hilary Clinton in the show," and also, while laughing, he let it slip that 'Trump' will be played as well.
