TLC to Host Texas' 16th Annual Largest Easter Egg Hunt

Kat Rowoldt, The Life Church's Easterfest Coordinator for the past six years, said this Saturday, March 26, San Angelo families will enjoy Texas' largest easter egg hunt at the Texas Bank Sports Complex, located at 1651 Rio Concho Drive. Last year, Easterfest brought out 15,000 attendees, and TLC members are hoping 20,000 will attend this year.

"The event is free to all, and, for many [attendees], [it] has become an annual family tradition," said Rowoldt. "Not only do our visitors come from San Angelo and the surrounding areas, but [they also come] from cities such as Midland, Odessa, Abilene and Lubbock."

Rowoldt added people usually arrive at the event around 10 a.m., but the event kicks off at 11 a.m.

"There will be plenty of parking near the fields to accommodate all, and visitors are requested to leave their pets at home," Rowoldt stressed.

She added that this year TLC has a special surprise for the kids to start the event, which is sure to please all. There will also be six fields designated by age groups, up to age 12, and a seventh for people with "special needs."

"If a family has more than one child, they will report to the field of the oldest child's age," explained Rowoldt. "The helicopter will fly over at approximately noon and drop candy over the fields, which will already have around 150,000 candy-filled, colorful, Easter eggs in place."

She also noted that the eggs and candy are picked up fairly fast, but TLC wants people to spend the day at the event as there will be more festivities families can enjoy.

"Each year, we have the Bounce About Inflatables for ages 2-12, music, face-painting, a rock climbing wall, and then there is a barrel train for the little ones," stated Rowoldt. "We will have free hot dogs, drinks and kettle corn, bicycle and prize giveaways, as in the past, but, this year, we will have a special giveaway."

Rowoldt said one lucky family will win a vacation package to San Antonio Texas that includes tickets to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, hotel accommodations, and gas and food gift cards.

Also, families are welcome to attend TLC's worship service on Easter Sunday at 3301 TLC Way, off Loop 306 and Glenna (The old Barrys building). Service times are 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Rowoldt said she wanted to recognize Mosaic staff for stuffing 100,000 eggs this year, which figures out to around 3,000 eggs per day, and Terry Dubose, who stuffed 34,000 eggs on his own.

"The Sheriff's Reserve, San Angelo Police Department,  KLST, KSAN, Sonora Bank, 1st Community Federal Credit Union, Concho Educators Federal Credit Union, Goodfellow Air Force Base Personnel-all divisions, ASU, Mosaic, Gospel Children's Ministries, TLCA, Emergency Corps, and countless business volunteers from the community have all volunteered their time to make this event possible," said Rowoldt.
