"Def Leppard" Makes Their Way Back to San Angelo

Break out the Aqua Net and shredded jeans because Shenanigan's Sports Bar & Grill is welcoming back the south's longest running Def Leppard tribute band, Hysteria, this Saturday night.

Lead guitarist Chris Paul started the band about five years ago, and has had several lineup changes over the years. However, one thing remains the same - the band still plays all the Def Leppard songs everyone knows and loves.

"The big thing about Hysteria is we like to represent Def Leppard and do the hits that everybody is going to know, but we also want to keep it rocking, " he stated. "We don't really want to do too many of the teeny bopping songs; we don't want to sing about 'making love like a man.'"

Chris, who is also a member of the national KISS tribute band Rock and Roll Over, felt that creating a tribute to one of the 80's most beloved bands just made sense.

"Here in Dallas there seems to be a tribute to almost everything," he explained. "Whether it's Dokken, Lynch Mob, or Ratt; and those are all great bands, but let's be honest, not too many people know those bands. The one thing that was lacking here was a Def Leppard tribute band. You just can't deny hits like 'Love Bites,' 'Foolin',' 'Rock of Ages,' 'Photograph;' the list goes on and on. It just seemed a no-brainer to me. I wanted to provide that service, and I was the first to do so in all of the south."

Chris and his bands have performed all over the world and in some of the largest U.S. cities such as Chicago, Orlando, and Myrtle Beach. However, he is still looking forward to coming back to the good ol' town of San Angelo.

"I like bringing rock and roll to all of the smaller towns," he said. "I like to perform for people who don't get to have a lot of great bands come through; they seem to appreciate it a lot more, and I think San Angelo is a prime example of this. The last time we were there, it was completely packed, and it stayed packed. Everybody enjoyed it; they weren't busy on their cell phones the entire time taking selfies. People appreciate when you come to their town and you rock for them."

He ensured that Hysteria will be bringing a rocking, high energy show full of hits to San Angelo on Saturday.

"We will give you the hits, but we also want to please the real Def Leppard fans as well," Chris noted. "If you want to hear 'Foolin',' you want to hear 'Pour Some Sugar On Me,' 'Love Bites,' you are going to hear those songs. But you're also going to hear 'Me and My Wine,' 'High N' Dry;' you're going to hear 'Wasted.' You are going to get a little bit of everything; that's what we go for."

Those in attendance can also expect to see the guys not only on the stage, but off it as well.

"We love to mingle with the audience," he added. "I hate to call people 'fans' like we are above them. We are just like anyone else. We are just up there on stage, but we are all together. That's the way I like to see it."

Chris noted that since Hysteria's last show in San Angelo, they have added more special effects, more lighting, and a few new songs.

He chimed, "If you want to have a party on Saturday night, 'High N' Dry,' come out to Shenanigan's!"

Saturday's show begins at 9:45 p.m.
