Fans of newcomer Sam Riggs will want to head out to Midnight Rodeo tomorrow night because the rising Country musician will take the stage with Randy Rogers for what is sure to be an amazing acoustic show.
Riggs barely moved to Texas about nine years ago, but has been "chasing that dream ever since," he said.
His sophomore album, Breathless, was released on February 19 and debuted at #3 on the iTunes Country chart, right behind Chris Stapleton and Sam Hunt.
Apple Music Country posted about the debut, stating, "We're eager to spend some time with this new music from Floridian-turned-Texan Sam Riggs. We love the first single 'The Lucky Ones.'"
In addition to his iTunes success, the video for "When the Lights Go Out" hit #1 on CMT Pure. Riggs has also been featured twice on "Texas Music Scene TV," and was named Texas Music Pickers' "2014 Artist of the Year."
Despite his national success, Riggs is looking forward to returning to the small town of San Angelo.
"San Angelo is a cool little town," he said. "It's a great crowd full of heart. They always sing along with the songs; it's just a great feeling. I am looking forward to getting back up there and having a good time. I don't get to do a lot of acoustic stuff so it should be fun."
Prior to Friday night's performance, Riggs will be at Hastings, 4238 Sunset Drive, to meet with fans and give a few autographs. The signing begins at 4 p.m., and he added, "I hope people come out, hang out, and get the record."
