LIVE! Featured Artist: Zach Edwards

“A rockin’ honky-tonk sound,” is how musician Zach Edwards described his music.

Zach’s interest in music started when he began playing trumpet in middle school, which he continued throughout high school by playing in marching and symphonic bands.

“It gave me a good musical base,” he said. “In college, I picked up the guitar and started playing by ear, then started singing soon after.”

Now, a fairly well-known part of the Texas Country music scene, Zach has come quite far since his high school marching band days.

“I am very content with what we have done so far,” he stated. “I haven’t really progressed as fast as some artists. However, some artists tend to put out albums too fast, and quite a few songs seem a little watered down. I don’t want that in my career.”

Zach currently has two albums available on iTunes, Spotify, and all of the other popular music outlets; and, he is currently working on his third.

Besides continuing to record his music, Zach noted that, in the future, he would like to learn to play the piano, and, “I want to eventually produce or co-produce other artists," he said. "As for the band, we wish to top the charts with new music and play for big crowds.

Zach added, "My band and I come into our own during live performances. We feed off of a good vibe from the crowd and I love to interact with the crowd.”

Rodeo fans will get a chance to experience a live Zach Edwards show this weekend, as he will be playing at the Beer Barn on the fairgrounds Friday, Feb. 12, and Saturday, Feb. 13.

“We are very excited to play on the fairgrounds during the rodeo because I feel like we cater to a rodeo crowd," he said. "It’s been a few years since we’ve done that, so I am looking forward to it!”

Zach added that he feels very "at home" in San Angelo. 

"We play to lots of old friends and also to family while we are in San Angelo, so it sort of feels like a family reunion. I like San Angelo people and the vibe we get from them.”
