Brady Hulsey entertained many Brownwood residents when he played The Oasis last Saturday night. His traditional country sound and exceptionally talented band kept the dancers on the floor all night long.
“We are known as a country dance band,” Brady said. “We pride ourselves in playing music that folks can get up and dance to.”
Brady grew up in the rural town of Glen Rose, only 50 miles outside of Fort Worth, and has been singing and playing guitar since he was 12 years old. He was influenced by Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., Merle Haggard, George Jones, and George Strait; “All the true country legends,” he said.
The influence of traditional country can definitely be heard in his music. His first album, “Working On A Memory,” was released in 2012, and can be heard on iTunes, cdBaby, Spotify, and Google Play.
Brady added, “Our second album is currently in the works.”
The musician said he is most definitely impressed with the progress he has made so far.
“I learn more and more all the time,” he stated. “And since my wife began booking and managing our band, in the summer of 2011, things have really taken off. I play anywhere from 100 to 120 shows a year all across the state of Texas and in Oklahoma. In April, I will be playing in Missouri.”
He also noted that he has opened up for acts such as Sonny Burgess, Deryl Dodd, Confederate Railroad, and Jason Cassidy--achievements that are definitely paving his way to the success he desires.
“Play at Billy Bob's in the Fort Worth Stockyards,” Brady said is one of his goals in his music career, as well as having a number one song on the Texas Country music charts.
“None of this would be possible without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Brady added. “I pray to him daily for guidance in everything I do in life and thank him my many blessings.”
While Brady is steadily booked for the next month in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, he will be returning to San Angelo on April 17 for the Turn the Paige Foundation. He has played at the Little River Club numerous times, and he is currently working on booking more shows here in San Angelo.
“I love San Angelo," he said. "I hope to come back more and more and play other venues as well.”
