VIDEO: Sights and Sounds at the 25th Annual West Texas Bridal Showcase

The annual West Texas Bridal Showcase was held at Foster Communications Coliseum Sunday. Several hundred people attended to learn about the newest trends in weddings and to meet over 100 vendors who can make a bride’s wedding day exceptional.

To help create that special wedding day bliss theme, a string quartet from the Central High School Orchestra provided classical music that competed sometimes with the pop music over the loud PA system. The quartet, who have christened themselves “The Orchet,” is led by first violinist Morgan Byers. Byers is a junior and has an ambition to attend the University of Texas School of Music and majoring in Performance.

Sonia Isabelle Delgado plays second violin. A senior at Central, her ambition is one year from now to be attending either Abilene Christian University or Angelo State University. “I don’t know what I’m going to do yet, but I want to do something incredible,” she said of her career goals.

Luis Peña plays the cello. He is a senior and is seriously looking at attending UT San Antonio to earn a music degree. Luis said he wants to become a music educator. Luis enjoys composing classical and pop culture music as well.

Desiree Camarillo plays the viola. She is a junior at Central. She hasn’t decided on a school, but is certain that her career will be in business, possibly as an attorney specializing in business law.

The string quartet was hosted by Luis’ proud mother, Becky Peña, who is the proprietor of Bouquets Unique Florists, 1961 W. Beauregard Ave. Peña said that the string quartet competes at UIL together and most recently was awarded a Division I at state.
