Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation Sponsors the 2016 Youth Concerts

The San Angelo Symphony is pleased to announce the Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation as the 2016 title sponsor of its annual Youth Concerts, said a press release Wednesday.

"The San Angelo Symphony Youth Concert - The Magic in Music" is the main event and is celebrating its 31st year by bringing together approximately 2,500 3rd through 5th graders from SAISD and surrounding rural communities. The two performances will be on March 4, 2016.

According to the press release, the San Angelo Symphony Society believes that every child should have the resources to dream big. Each year, members reach over 25,000 children in the Concho Valley with education and outreach programs. Courtney Mahaffey, San Angelo Symphony Executive Director, said she feels that "the Youth Concert performances provide our young people an unforgettable experience that will introduce new ideas and challenges to be reached both in the classroom and beyond through the art of music and interaction with our musicians."

For 66 years, the San Angelo Symphony has been an oasis of cultural activity in a thirteen-county region of West Texas known as the Concho Valley. The annual Youth Concerts are just one of the free educational events the San Angelo Symphony offers.

Carl B. and Florence E. King started the Foundation that bears their names in 1966. Established by gifts from Mr. and Mrs. King, as well as a later bequest from their daughter, Dorothy, the Foundation has now grown to more than $75 million in assets. The Foundation distributes more than $2 million per year to charities serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area, 38 counties in West Texas, and 32 counties in Arkansas.
