Concho Christmas Celebration Will Feature Over 3 Million Lights

This year, Concho Christmas Celebration celebrates its 21st year delighting guests from the Concho Valley and across the state and nation with its Concho River Tour of Lights along the Concho River in downtown San Angelo. This year, the display will feature over 3 million lights.

The 2015 Concho Christmas Celebration River Light Tour’s soft opening date is Friday, Dec. 4th, with the tour running every night through Thursday, Dec. 31. The Tour will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weeknights, and from 6 p.m. to midnight on weekends. A suggested donation of $5 per vehicle is greatly appreciated, and families are invited to walk, run, bike, or drive the Tour.

The Tour has blossomed from a simple walking tour to a multi-mile journey along the Concho River, featuring more than three million lights and more than fifty Christmas Greeting Cards.  With this year’s addition of a Candy Cane Castle, and a new directional sign for the Paseo cartoon viewing area, the tour is sure to thrill young and old alike.

The afternoon of Dec. 5 will commence with the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, featuring the Twin Mountain Tonesmen and the San Angelo Community Band.  The ceremony takes place at the corner of Concho and Chadbourne, and will begin around 5:15 p.m.  Immediately following the ceremony, guests are invited to stay downtown to enjoy the Lights of Christmas Parade, starting at 6 p.m. The parade begins at the Shannon employee parking lot on N. Oakes and will travel through the downtown area.

There are other coordinated activities, including “Bike Through the Lights,” a bicycle riding tour on Dec 6; “Run Rudolph Run,” a non-competitive fun run on Dec 13; “Tuba Christmas,” at the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall on Dec. 12; and “Santa’s Santa Fe Depot” on Nov. 28.   You can visit www.conchochristmascelebration.com for event-specific information.
