Between the concerts, parents, siblings and friends of band members yelled their names, clapped and whistled to show their pride.
One proud mom applauded loudly as the Symphonic Band finished their portion of the concert. The mom, Susan Brown has a daughter who plays bass clarinet in the band.
“It [band program] is fantastic! Mrs. Costello is the best band teacher I’ve seen in a long time,” Brown explained. “Lake View’s band is the best.”
“She practices almost every day,” said Brown. “She really loves it.”
The concert followed a spaghetti supper fundraiser. The dinner also served as a celebration for the 14 musicians selected to participate in the All-Region band. Lake View is the sole 4A high school in their region and therefore competes against musicians in larger 5A bands.
Next on the agenda for the band is the Solo and Ensemble contests that begin in February.
“They should be practicing all during the Christmas break,” emphasized the director.
