Riverfest kicks off tonight with a free concert featuring the Texas Tornados as the headliners.
The Texas Tornados’ Augie Meyers gave LIVE! a little preview of what San Angelo should expect.
“We have a lot of fun together,” he said, “we’ve been playing together since the ‘60s.”
Meyers explained that the concert will be entertaining, and include hits from previous Tornados albums as well as from the Sir Douglas Quintet. Some former Quintet members are currently playing with the Texas Tornados.
The tejano band plays a blend of country, tex-mex and rock music, and are best known for their hits "(Hey Baby) Que Paso" and "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone."
Meyers and the Texas Tornados are big fans of San Angelo and are happy to be playing for Riverfest.
