San Angelo LIVE! caught up with the Grammy Award winning, Los Lonely Boys, over the summer. The local band has been touring throughout the country and was performing the “Out of the Box” festival in Boston at the time of the interview.
LIVE!: Give us an update of what our hometown band is up to.
Ringo: Back at home we are three brothers. We still live in San Angelo, we go fishing, bowling, golfing.
Jojo: We are constantly playing. We are on tour and it’s going to run onto six weeks by the end of it.
LIVE!: Where has the tour taken you?
Jojo: We went up to Canada. We’ve been all over the Midwest this tour.
Henry: Japan, too.
LIVE!: We heard about Henry’s accident, can you tell us a little about that?
Henry: Well, we had an unfortunate accident where I fell into an orchestra pit without even knowing it was an orchestra pit. I was out for four months and I had to learn to walk and play the guitar from scratch again. It was a pretty serious injury. But, by the good grace of God and a loving family, that’s what keeps us alive.
Jojo: It was an amazing recovery, very miraculous.
Henry: But with brothers like these, how can you not get back on your feet? I mean, c’mon.
LIVE!: So now that the band is back on their feet is there any new music in the works?
Jojo: Yeah, we are working on a new album and some new music.
Ringo: We are pretty much done, just working on a few things here and there.
LIVE!: Where is the new album being recorded?
Ringo: This album we recorded at Ray Benson’s studio in Austin. We did a couple of songs in Nashville at the Black Bird Studio. We did some songs in Denver, also at Mighty Fine.
LIVE!: What can fans expect from this album?
Ringo: Basically, like every other album, three brothers sharing our lives through song, you know?
Henry: Texican Rock’n Roll!
Jojo: And there’s different sounds. There’s always different sounds. One song doesn’t always sound like the last song. Each song has its own world. So there is bunch of experimenting with guitars and beats all the time.
Henry: Just new music for new times. And us, just keepin’ on. We hope we can inspire others because that’s what we are here to do, music until the day we are dead.
Jojo, Henry, Ringo: And that’s the bottom line because Los Lonely Boys said so.
Los Lonely Boys expect the album to be out early next year. For more information on the band visit their website at The Los Lonely Boys official website.
