Angelo State Ram Band Marches Through Rome, Italy

ROME, ITALY — Monday, January 1, 2024, the Angelo State University Ram Band marched down the narrow streets of Rome, Italy.

The Rome New Year’s Parade is a European-style parade that proceeds along the Via della Conciliazione, incorporates some of the most treasured areas of the city, such as the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, and culminates at St. Peter’s Square.

The 2024 parade included thousands of performers from all over the world, with street audience of around 250,000 people.

This was the second international performance for the ASU Ram Band, which led the 2019 London New Year’s Day Parade in London, England.

Watch the heart of the performance in the video above. I do not know why the band chose to open their performance to the grand stands with Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls” but they did!

According to Angelo State, the ASU Ram Band at 100 musicians strong, is the most visible ensemble on campus and includes the Drumline, Color Guard and Twirlers. It provides spirit for and represents the entire Angelo State community at special events on and off campus, at all home football games and as the exhibition band at many other local events.
