WATCH: SAISD Celebrates Read Across America Day

SAN ANGELO, TX – Every year the United States kicks off the month of March with Read Across America Day. The event kicks off a national effort to promote literacy in Americans of all ages.

In San Angelo, the 3rd graders of Crocket Elementary celebrated the day with a special visitor.

SAISD Assistant Superintendent Dr. Farrah Gomez visited the school and read “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” by Dr. Seuss.

"We hope our students, families, and community members continue the fun of #ReadAcrossAmericaDay today! Special thanks to Dr. Gomez, Mr. Hubbard, Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Bailey, and her class at Crockett Elementary for making this morning’s read-aloud extra special," said SAISD in a statement. "Some kiddos even dressed up! Share your Read Across America Day fun of reading to a loved one with the hashtag #SAISDReads."
