Andrews ISD Employees Placed on Leave for Inappropriate Communication

ANDREWS, TX — Andrews Independent School District has placed some employees on administrative leave following concerns about inappropriate communication with a student, according to district officials.

In a letter dated April 21, Superintendent Bobby Azam said the district was notified of the situation and took immediate action after reviewing the allegations.

The district has not disclosed how many employees are involved.

“Upon review of the situation, the District determined that the employees’ actions do not align with the professional expectations of our District and promptly placed the employees on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted,” the letter stated.

District officials said the parents of the student were notified directly. While no evidence of abuse or sexual misconduct has been found, the district said the nature of the communication warrants further investigation under district policies and state standards for educators.

The district reported the allegations to the Texas Education Agency and the Andrews Police Department and said it will cooperate fully with both agencies.

Officials declined to release additional details, citing personnel and student privacy laws, unless and until any final sanctions are issued by the state.

Andrews ISD emphasized that student and staff safety remains a top priority and urged the community to avoid relying on rumors or social media speculation as the investigation continues.
