SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Independent School District (SAISD) has announced new principal and district leadership appointments ahead of the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, effective July 17. The new leadership roles include positions in both school administration and district management.
Principals
Dr. Marissa Contreras Guerrero has been appointed as the new principal of Bradford Elementary, succeeding Berta Sepulveda. Dr. Guerrero previously served as associate principal at Lincoln Middle School for the past five years. She has a longstanding career in education spanning 30 years, all with SAISD. Dr. Guerrero began her journey with the district as a bus driver and, after completing her college education, became a secondary mathematics teacher.
Her extensive experience also includes roles as a mathematics department head, instructional coach, at-risk coordinator, and assistant principal. Dr. Guerrero holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Mathematics, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction and School Administration from Angelo State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and School Administration from Texas Tech University.
District Leadership
Christy Diego has been named SAISD’s new director of human resources, replacing LaTonia Sutton, who will now serve as principal of Lone Star Middle School.
Diego previously held the position of director of emergent bilingual and has also worked as a Spanish teacher, high school at-risk coordinator, middle school assistant principal, elementary principal, and middle school principal.
She has 21 years of experience in education, with 20 of those years spent at the San Angelo ISD.
Diego earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Angelo State University and a Master of Education from Sul Ross University.
District Leadership
Berta Sepulveda will now serve as SAISD’s director of emergent bilingual, succeeding Christy Diego. Sepulveda has most recently been the principal of Bradford Elementary and has also worked as an assistant principal, instructional coach, and teacher. She has dedicated 22 years to education, all within SAISD. Sepulveda holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in School Administration, both from Angelo State University.
