San Angelo ISD to Honor Educators and Students at Board Meeting

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting today at 5:45 p.m.

This will happen at the San Angelo ISD Administration Building, Board Room, 1621 University Ave. 

The agenda includes recognitions, public comments, updates, and action items.

The meeting will begin with the establishment of a quorum, followed by an invocation by Pastor Jimmy Hill of New Hope Church.

Students from Fannin Elementary, including Taela Carter, Averie Parry, Jerrick Johnson, and Brittleigh Hernandez, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and Texas flags.

Recognitions Scheduled

Several recognitions are on the agenda:

• Veronica Stapper will be honored for receiving the HEB Excellence in Education Award.
• San Angelo ISD will celebrate Difference Maker Day.
• SERC Awards and PCAT Awards recipients will be acknowledged.
• District Teachers of the Year will be recognized.
• Athletes from Central and Lake View High Schools will also be celebrated for their achievements.

Public Comments and Information Updates

The board will open the floor for public comments, followed by several informational updates:

• A construction update.
• An update on Central on Oakes.
• A reorganization of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
• A facility assessment and bond planning services discussion.

Consent Items and Other Considerations

The board will review and consider consent items, including donations, meeting minutes from April 8 and April 15, and bids for the Child Nutrition Department for the 2024-2025 school year. Other items include the consideration of annual financial audit services, proposed amendments for the district's official budget, and recommendations for 2024-2025 teacher and professional contracts.

Financials and Instructional Materials

The board will review the bills, accounts, and financial statements for April 2024. They will also consider the certification of the provision of instructional materials for the 2024-2025 school year.

The meeting will conclude with announcements regarding upcoming meetings and training sessions:
