SAN ANGELO, TX - A senior at TLCA was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by San Angelo Nursing and Rehab for her essay on pursuing a career in the medical field.
The scholarship was made to Juliana Macasaya and is part of a monthly initiative by San Angelo Nursing and Rehab.
The initiative aims to support local high school seniors committed to medical careers.
Each month, a different school in the area is selected to submit essays for the competition.
This month's winner, Macasaya, was chosen by the resident council, which includes Sondra Piel, President, and Beverly Griesheimer, Vice President.
Macasaya has been active in various programs at her school and with Shannon Medical Center.
Her dream after college is to work as an ICU nurse before becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She attributes her success to the support from TLCA, Shannon Medical Center, and her parents.
In addition to the San Angelo Nursing and Rehab scholarship, Macasaya has received a blue and gold scholarship from Angelo State University. The funds from San Angelo Nursing and Rehab will assist with her final expenses as she prepares to attend college after graduation.
“Our resident council gets to read every essay that is submitted from the school we pick each month,” said Christine Timms, Marketing Director for San Angelo Nursing and Rehab. “They were extremely moved by the essay written by Juliana.”
San Angelo Nursing and Rehab provides skilled nursing and long-term care to patients.
