- Assistance with the registration process for the 2024-2025 school year,
- San Angelo READS! storytime read-alouds, and more.
"SAISD is proud to host this evening of fun and information on our SAISD Bilingual Program and to connect our families to vital and helpful resources in our community," the school district stated.
Now in its fourth year, the Bilingual Program utilizes the students' primary language of Spanish as a resource while acquiring full proficiency in English including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Developing a child’s home language is critical for developing their English language skills.
Research has shown that English Learners who receive bilingual instruction at an early age are more successful academically and have higher achievements in later grades.
“Knowing what resources are available in the community is crucial for parents and students as it provides additional support, opportunities for enrichment, and personal development beyond the school or home environment,” said SAISD Director of Emergent Bilingual Christy Diego. “It facilitates networking with individuals and organizations that can offer assistance, advice, or mentorship. Access to essential services ensures students and families can improve their well-being and academic success. Ultimately, awareness of available resources empowers parents and students to make informed decisions and take advantage of opportunities to positively impact their lives.”
