Angelo State Presents Easter Choir Concert

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University Chorale and the San Angelo Chorus (SAC) community choir will present a special joint concert on Sunday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in the Murphey Performance Hall at 72 W. College Ave. downtown.

Fresh off their March 11 performance at Carnegie Hall in New York, the choirs will perform individually and then join together to perform Ola Gjeilo's "Sunrise Mass," accompanied by the SAC String Orchestra. The musical program will include:

San Angelo Chorus

  • "Verleih uns Frieden" (Grant Us Peace) by Felix Mendelssohn, words by Martin Luther
  • "I Can Tell the World" arranged by Moses Hogan

ASU Chorale

  • "Let Me Listen" by Dan Forrest, words by Charles Anthony Silvestri
  • "We Remember Them" by Susan LaBarr

ASU Chamber Singers

  • "Temporal" by Diana V. Salez and Suzette Ortiz, accompanied by Dr. Trent Shuey
  • "My King is Coming" by Kyle Pederson, featuring soloist Dr. Mark Covey
  • "God So Loved the World" by John Stainer

Combined Choirs

  • "Sunrise Mass" by Ola Gjeilo

The concert is open to the public with ticket prices of $17 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available for purchase online at sanangelochorus.org/tickets.

The 39-member ASU Chorale comprises students from academic departments across campus. It includes the ASU Chamber Singers, a smaller ensemble that serves as the leadership core of the Chorale. The 41-member San Angelo Chorus is made up of community members and also includes several ASU faculty, staff, and students. Dr. Eric Posada, ASU director of choral activities, directs both ensembles.

Posada will conduct the concert along with SAC's associate conductor, Landon Gilmore. Hunter Mabery, ASU staff accompanist, and Dr. Louellen Meyer, SAC pianist, will also accompany the choirs on piano.
