WALL— The filing window to be on the ballot for the Wall School Board has officially opened.
According to the Wall Independent School District website, individuals have a month to file for a place on the ballot for the upcoming election. People may sign up for the Wall School Board by going out to Wall in person or by email. Two spots on the board are up for the election.
The Wall ISD website reads:
“The Wall Independent School District is accepting applications for a place on the ballot for School Board Trustee. The May 4th Election will be for two positions. You may apply for a place on the ballot at the Wall ISD Superintendent’s office located at 8065 Loop 570, in Wall, Texas, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., or by email at [email protected], beginning January 17, 2024, through February 16, 2024.
To be a Wall School Board member, individuals must be at least 18-years-old, have lived in the state of Texas for one year and lived in the school district for six months prior to the filing deadline, and must be a registered voter in territory elected from the filing deadline.
The current Wall School Board Members are:
- Chris Wilde- President
- Doug Dusek- Vic President
- Michael Jones- Secretary
- Curtis Holtman- Member
- Brett Schniers- Member
- Cole Mikulik- Member
- Heather Braden- Member
The Wall superintendent is Russell Dacy.
School board meetings are held each month at 6:00 p.m. unless other wise posted and the upcoming meeting is set during the current month’s meeting. The Wall ISD website does not specify a certain day for the school board's meeting but, according to the Open Meetings Act, the meetings must be announced at least 72 hours prior and according to the Wall ISD website, the way to confirm dates and times of meetings is to check the Wall ISD website under news. Over the past six months, the meetings appear to occur on the second or third Wednesday of the month.
It is not a requirement for every member of the school board to be present at every meeting, but the goal of the Wall ISD Board of Trustees is that each meeting is scheduled so that all board members can be in attendance.
The Wall School Board Election will be held on May 4, 2024.
