SAN ANGELO, TX - San Angelo ISD has been recognized with the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) award by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).
The COE was awarded specifically for San Angelo ISD's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending in 2022.
“This award is a shared celebration for all our San Angelo ISD employees that go above and beyond to provide both integrity and transparency in all our district business transactions,” said Dr. Merl Brandon, San Angelo ISD Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Superintendent of Business Support Services.
Applicants submit their ACFR for review by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents, information stated.
If the report meets the requirements of the program, it may receive the "Certificate of Excellence."
A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
“The COE’s mission is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting,” ASBO International Chief Operations Officer/Interim Executive Director Siobhan McMahon says. “The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.”
The district states that it pursues a philosophy of complete transparency and invites all interested parties to view financial data on the school's website.
