Local Librarian Joins Texas Bluebonnet Award Committee

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Tom Green County Library announced that Youth Service Librarian Amy Dennis was selected by the Texas Library Association to serve on the Texas Bluebonnet Award Selection Committee.

The Texas Bluebonnet Award honors outstanding children's recreational literature for grades three through six.

“Amy joins a prestigious committee of nine other Texas librarians,” the library stated. “The members are given the task of reading and reviewing over 300 nominated books. Only 20 can be chosen to make the list.”

Children from each grade will vote to choose the winning title that will receive the Bluebonnet Award.

The library was also chosen as a "Student Representative Site,” which the library stated is an honor within itself.

Dennis will choose a TBA student reader and their family for the TBA ceremony at the Spring TLA conference in San Antonio, according to the library.

There, she and her chosen young reader will work together to develop interview questions for the year's TBA master list of authors.

Then, they will interview the author panel in April.
