SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo ISD extended an appreciation to the Board of Directors of the D.E.S.K (Donate Educational Supplies for Kids) non-profit organization.
At the school district's last board meeting, Molly Turk, the Executive Director of Communications, spoke regarding D.E.S.K for their continuous efforts in raising funds for school supplies benefiting SAISD students.
She said that this year, the D.E.S.K Board and its dedicated volunteers raised $77,000 through various community events, the largest amount in program history.
"Tonight we have the very honorable recognition of a group that has been blessing and supporting our San Angelo ISD students and schools for nearly two decades,” Turk said at the meeting. “These incredible supporters of public education dedicate their time, energy, and talents to raise funds for SAISD students who are in need of school supplies—supplies to learn, grow, create, and think critically."
The funds collected are earmarked for the procurement of essential school supplies for students within SAISD.
“This has been a banner year for D.E.S.K.,” said Vicki Loso, D.E.S.K. Vice President. “This year is our largest amount ever to donate to help our students in the SAISD - $77,000 along with over 100 boxes and bags of supplies.”
The D.E.S.K organization was founded in 2004 by board president Eric Wilson, who identified the need within the community and committed himself to finding a solution.
The solution took the form of a dedicated board comprising concerned Concho Valley community members.
Since its inception, the organization has focused on fundraising efforts to provide much-needed school supplies to SAISD students facing economic challenges.
Over the years, D.E.S.K has been instrumental in raising nearly a million dollars, bringing countless smiles to the faces of students and contributing significantly to their academic success both inside and outside the classroom.
The raised funds will be distributed across all SAISD campuses.
