National Wreaths Across America Day Saturday Honored Fallen Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Over 4,225 locations nationwide participated in National Wreaths Across America Day Saturday, a heartfelt tribute that included Arlington National Cemetery. Volunteers gathered to honor our nation's heroes by vocalizing their names, a touching gesture that paid homage to over three million veterans this year.

Wreaths Across America extends profound gratitude to the communities, committed volunteers, and generous sponsors whose unity bolstered support for those who safeguard our freedoms. Each individual has played a vital role in the year-long pursuit to Remember the fallen, Honor those in service, and Instill in the next generation the priceless essence of freedom.

Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America, reflected, "What resonates most on this day and through our mission is its profound significance beyond the mere placement of wreaths. The wreath serves as a catalyst, uniting communities—families and strangers alike—to understand the sacrifices made by those who served." Worcester continued, "With over three million volunteers nationwide, a significant portion being children, this mission and today's events offer a crucial opportunity to educate our youth on the essence of freedom."

Throughout history, fresh evergreens have symbolized honor, serving as an annual living tribute. Wreaths Across America believes this tradition embodies a living memorial, a poignant gesture honoring veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families. When volunteers speak a veteran's name aloud while placing a wreath, it ensures their eternal presence in our hearts and memories, ensuring they are forever remembered.
