SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University Symphony Orchestra will present its second concert of the fall season on Thursday, Nov. 9, at First Presbyterian Church, 32 N. Irving St. in downtown San Angelo.
Titled "For the Love of Music," the concert will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. A special concert feature will be solo performances by ASU's 2023 Concerto Competition winners - Maya Rios of San Angelo on bassoon and mezzo-soprano Christina Parra of Abilene on vocals.

The musical program will include:
- "Prelude" and "Habanera" from "Carmen" by Georges Bizet, featuring Parra on vocals
- "Bassoon Concerto in A minor" by Antonio Vivaldi, featuring Rios on bassoon
- "Stride La Vampa" from "Il Trovatore" by Giuseppe Verdi, featuring Parra on vocals
- "Valse Triste" by Jean Sibelius
- "Romeo and Juliet" by Sergei Prokofiev
- "Valse for Livy" by Fagner M. Rocha
The ASU Symphony Orchestra includes over 40 student musicians and is directed by Dr. Fagner M. Rocha, associate professor of music. "Valse for Livy" was composed by Rocha and dedicated to his daughter, Olivia "Livy" Rocha.
