Angelo State University Free Trumpet Concert Tuesday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University Trumpet Ensembles will present their annual fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building at 2602 Dena Drive.

Titled "Trumpets in Sound and Color," the concert will take place in the EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. The ASU Trumpet Ensemble Gold and ASU Trumpet Ensemble Blue will present works that cover a mix of styles, musical periods and compositional techniques while exploring the colors of sound.

The musical program will include:

  • "The Sounds of Colors" by Jemetris Brown
  • "Lumen" by Fred Speck
  • "Canzon Septimi Toni No. 2" by Giovanni Gabrieli
  • "Seven for Five" by Erik Morales
  • "Prelude and Fugue" by Eric Ewazen

The ensembles will also perform various fanfares and flowing, lyrical pieces. The performance will cover the gamut of colors and sound combinations that trumpets are able to create.

The ASU Trumpet Ensembles are directed by Dr. John Irish, professor of music.
