SAN ANGELO, TX – Angelo State University is presenting a free public art exhibit by Chris Stewart, chair of the ASU Department of Visual and Performing Arts, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building at 2602 Dena Drive.
Titled "Made You Look," the exhibit of Stewart's wide variety of new artworks is on display in the Carr EFA Building's Gallery 193 and will be open for free public viewing on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 5.
The exhibit includes wood-block prints, digital images, large-scale acrylic drawings and collages. Also a professor of art, Stewart joined the Angelo State faculty in 2015 after spending 21 years as a professor of art and chair of the Art Department at Tyler Junior College.
He earned is Bachelor of Fine Arts at Texas Tech University and his Master of Fine Arts at the University of Nebraska.
Since 1991, Stewart has exhibited his art in shows, exhibitions, projects and exchanges throughout Texas and numerous other states, as well as in China, France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Nepal, Northern Ireland, Poland, Spain and Vietnam.
He has also won multiple art exhibit and teaching awards, has served as a committee member for the Texas Tech University System Public Art Collection, and has led several summer study abroad trips for art students to Florence, Italy.
