San Angelo ISD Board Votes to Combine Beloved Elementary Schools

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo ISD School board on Monday night finalized the combining of multiple elementary schools during its regular meeting. Two elementary schools will close.

The way the school board finalized the closures was by setting new boundary lines for students attending elementary schools in north and west San Angelo.

The schools affected are Alta Loma Elementary, Fannin Elementary, Austin Elementary, and McGill Elementary. After a 6-1 vote the board approved to combine Alta Loma and Fannin, combine Austin and McGill, and shut down Alto Loma and Austin.

Two other schools that survived the cut. They were San Jacinto and Reagan Elementary. It was proposed that that the two schools be combined at Reagan and San Jacinto be turned into an early childhood center. The board voted 2-5 against that plan.

These combinations will not take place until the 2024-2025 school year.
